John C. Moran

John C. Moran serves as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board at CE Ortho. John’s experience includes 19 years in a variety of capacities with Synthes (USA), the leading manufacturer of orthopaedic implants used in fracture repair. His positions included Director of Finance, VP of Finance and Administration, VP of Product Development, and he was a founder and President of Synthes Spine Inc., taking it to well over $60M in sales.

Since leaving Synthes in 1997, he has been an angel investor in a number of companies, mostly in the medical device field. He is on the board of Paradigm Spine, LLC, Ranier Technology and Anika Therapeutics. Previously, he was an early investor and board member of Spine Solutions (a prosthetic disc company sold to Synthes for $350M) and Power Medical Interventions, Inc.. John is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds an MBA from Harvard University. John is a founding member of Core Essence Orthopaedics, Inc.


Alan B. Miller

Alan has over 14 years of knowledge and experience as a senior level executive in the orthopaedic industry, and with international, start-up and turnaround expertise. Alan’s possesses a wide range of knowledge in project management, product development, strategic planning, sales, marketing, and finance has enabled him to bring unusual know-how into new business development, manufacturing, distribution, and business operations.

Before co-founding CE Ortho, Alan served as the Co-Founder, Vice President of Market Development of Small Bone Innovations, Inc., a leading Small Bone and Joint (SB&J) company. While at SBI, Alan spearheaded the company’s effort to revitalize technology located in its Bourg-en-Bresse France facility resulting in the successful introduction of the first SBI lower extremity product to the U.S. orthopaedic market and the creation of a new franchise brand for the company’s uppermost product line in its portfolio.

In conjunction with a stellar start-up management team, SBI achieved critical mass in less than one year. The company is now recognized as a leading Small Bone & Joint company.

Alan was a Co-Founder and President of Envision Manufacturing, Inc. prior to its acquisition by Small Bone Innovations in November of 2004. From 1992 to its acquisition by SBI in November 2004, Envision Manufacturing Inc. was a premier orthopedic implant and surgical instrument supplier to leading orthopedic companies.

Alan is primarily responsible for the market development for CE Ortho’s products.


Jeff Miller

Jeff currently holds the position of Vice President of Operations for CE Ortho. He is responsible for all manufacturing and operational activities at the facility. Jeff’s responsibilities include production forecasting, inventory planning, delivery scheduling, process planning, quality assurance, cost analysis, and facility/equipment management.

Jeff has spent his last two years with Small Bone Innovations, where he was Vice President of Operations and Manufacturing. Jeff was responsible for the operations and manufacturing at all of Small Bone Innovations’ facilities. In the first year of working for SBI, Jeff managed the quality department which developed and acquired certification approval of the company’s ISO 13485, MDD, and CMDCAS quality system and procedures.

Prior to joining SBI, Jeff spent 14 years in the orthopedic implant business as Owner / Director of Operations for Envision Manufacturing, Inc., an FDA registered medical device contract manufacturer acquired by SBI in November 2004. Envision specialized in machining complex, tight tolerance, implantable components and surgical instruments used in orthopedic, spine, and maxillofacial applications.
